2021 World T20 (UAE & Oman)
The 2021 edition of the tournament was held in UAE and Oman. It was the seventh ICC Men's T20 World Cup tournament.
The 2016 Tournament was held in India, and the 2021 tournament was scheduled to be played there too. However, in the wake of growing numbers of COVID-19 cases in India it was decided to transfer the tournament to the UAE, with some games also being played in Oman.
The tournament was held from Oct 17 - Nov 14, 2021. Matches were played in Dubai, Abu Dhabi, Sharjah and the Omani capital, Muscat.
As in 2016, there were 16 countries participating. The top eight ranked nations went straight into the super 12s, the next two ranked teams went into round 1 along with the six teams which gained a place in the tournament through the qualifying tournament.
The top two teams from each group in the first round joined the Super 12s. In this case, Sri Lanka and Namibia (group A) and Scotland and Bangladesh (group B) progressed to the super 12s.
The Super 12s comprised two groups of six, with the top 2 of each group progressing to the knock-out semi-finals then final.
The final was won by Australia, beating New Zealand by 8 wickets for their first T20 World Cup win.

Round 1
- Group A: Sri Lanka, Ireland, Netherlands, Namibia.
- Group B: Bangladesh, Scotland, Papua New Guinea, Oman.
Super 12s
- Group 1: England, Australia, South Africa, West Indies, Sri Lanka, Bangladesh.
- Group 2: India, Pakistan, New Zealand, Afghanistan, Scotland, Namibia.
Trivia
- It is the first time that a cricket World Cup is being held entirely outside of a Test-playing nation.
- It is the first time that Papua New Guinea has qualified for a World Cup in any format.
- In a group 1 match between Ireland and The Netherlands, Ireland's all-rounder Curtis Campher achieved a double hat-trick (four wickets in four balls). He became just the third man to complete the feat in a Twenty20 International (the others are Afghanistan's Rashid Khan and Sri Lanka's Lasith Malinga, both in 2019).
