Should Rugby be a Sport at the Olympics?
Rugby was played at the Olympics in the years 1900, 1908, 1920 and 1924, and after a long wait it was voted in 2009 back onto the Olympic program. A Rugby 7s tournament was added to the sporting program for the 2016 Olympic Games, though not everyone agrees that it should have.
Should rugby be back in the Olympics? You have had your say, and it was overwhelmingly that it deserves its place on the Olympic program. After a total of 593 votes (from 2009-2016), over 80% of respondents said 'yes' to rugby's inclusion back in the Olympics. And after a very successful debut of the Rugby 7s format in 2016 it looks like it is here to stay.

- How can they think of dropping wrestling in 2020? People making the vote probably are not aware that wrestling was one of the original Olympic events. It is nothing like pro wrestling, and I would hate to see it left out. What can I do to change this poor decision?

- Big yes. I could never figure out why this (7's version) was omitted. The event in Dubai " ... boasts six pitches, sees an average of around 120,000 fans streaming through its gates over the three days of the tournament." These people all pay to see the event; it is a money maker. Ruby 7's is a hard driving, much more exiting version of its 15 a side counterpart. It is worthy of being called a sport and would probably become as popular as hockey at the winter Olympics. If you must get rid of something, get rid of that pansey arse soccer - (but keep the women's version.) 16 men's teams and 8 women's teams are up for Rio 2016 (from jim in calgary, 6 Aug 2012)
