The game is played where you are primarily on either one or two knees. There is barrier in the middle the size of a footstool. The first person to hit the balloon on the floor of your opponents side of the court 10 times wins.
Balloon Tennis Rules
Balloon tennis is really simple. You have to get the balloon to hit the floor of your opponents side at least 10 times. However, if they break the rules you score a point anyway.
One person kicks off with a serve where they hoist the balloon into the air. You are not allowed to shoot from a serve. You have to hoist the balloon at least head level with your opponent. Once your opponent gets the balloon, they can shoot.
Then you both go hitting the balloon back and forth with one hand only.
The game is played where you are primarily on either one or two knees. There is barrier in the middle the size of a footstool 3-5 metres in width.
You score by 6 ways
1. The main way - You hit the balloon on the floor on your opponents side of the court
The next few ways are of scoring are due to faults of your opponent
2. Your opponent catches/holds the balloon. You can not catch it - eg. Holding the balloon in your hand. If you want to maintain control of the balloon while you are deciding where to shoot - you must be tossing it up and down in the air while you decide. You can not hold the balloon.
3. Any part of your opponents body comes on your side of the court during play.
Sometimes players try to block a shot, and their hand can go a few centimetres past the barrier onto the opponents side - that's enough to concede a goal.
4. Incorrect serve - you serve too low, or try to shoot. All serves after a goal must be shot at head level of your opponent.
5. You have the balloon on your side for more than 10 seconds
6. Both knees of your opponent leave the ground. You must have at least one knee on the ground at ALL TIMES. If both knees leave the ground, that counts as standing up and your opponent gets a goal.
Equipment Required:
- A pack of balloons
- a balloon pump
- barrier about 60 CM in height and about 3 metres in width.
- Kneepads to protect your knees.
