Mintonball - A New Sport

The new sport of Mintonball was created by Caleb Lapinskas of Illinois, USA in July 2014. It's a combination of Lacrosse and Badminton. You use racquets to move the ball downfield and score goals on a net. Each team has 4 players on the field and a goalie. This game is played in a field or on concrete. To move the ball down field you can carry it on your racquet or pass to another teammate.

equipment-required: Badminton racquets, ball, goals (hockey size)

Sport Description

There are two types of Mintonball: Field Mintonball or Floor Mintonball. The rules differ regarding the goalies.

In field Mintonball: You can go in the goalie box as long as the ball is there.

In Floor Mintonball: You CANNOT go in the goalie box at anytime while the ball is in play. Doing so will result in a foul.

Ballups: Kinda like in Basketball, a ball-up is used to get the ball back in play. The system works like hockey. There are ball-up dots on either side of each goalie, and at center field.

Fouls: A foul occurs when a rule is broken. When a player has received a foul, their respective team goes down 1 player for 1:30, giving the opposing team the advantage.
