The new sport of Smash Ball was created by Joey Cummings from the USA in August 2022.
We have the number one grossing sport, but it doesn't resonate with us here in America. Why is that?
- It is considered a slow, low scoring sport.
- It is seen as not as tough as other sports.
- The rules just don't make sense or connect with the American customer base.
- The people don't have a reason to stand up and cheer. To be connected, proud of their team.
- There is less coach involvement and strategy taken place.
Lets change that...
So, we start we the structuring of the teams, look at how the overseas team are made up. The players are often from, born where they play for. So, lets structure them so the players have to have been born in state or they have to have played professionally in state for 4 years or have a 4-year college degree from the state they play for. Allows for some trading but ultimately creates and environment where you feel the true talent is measured demographically.
Get rid of the design of the field, create a closed arena field. Let's make it tougher, lets allow them to score in various ways. American viewers seem to look at soccer players as being not as tough, to shy away from contact. This couldn't be any further from the truth, their athletes that go through tough, physically demanding injuries. Another huge mistake is the game presently asserts that any substitutions are to be made indefinitely and the player coming out is now done for the rest of game, what a waste...
The referees pull out some card? Yellow, Red? Seems like not much of a punishment. Let's make a penalty box, let's give the refs a voice, a headset to talk to the crowd...
MISSION STATEMENT:
To bring a new breed of soccer to America and the world. To create compelling match ups that evoke a true competitive nature. Give people a reason to brag about their home team that show case real hometown players from where they live. Give people a reason to cheer harder, louder, faster, longer.
So here are the basic rules...
You have a closed in arena field. High walls and nets keep the ball in play. No out of bounds. Now the goals are different, they are less wide and approx., 11.5 feet tall, creating an opportunity to showcase the goalie's vertical leap. Above the goal is a field goal post. Moving outward from each goal 35 yards there is a line across the whole field. You can kick a field goal at any point in the match. Allowing for a differential type of play calls to be created.
Now one player from each team is the ENFORCER, he can use his hands in addition to the goalie, a player could bounce the ball off the wall, maneuver around an opposing player, catch his own pass, then kick it to his enforcer, he carries it like a football player. Sets it down in nearly full motion, another teammate comes up behind and kicks a field goal attempt. There is all sorts of different play calls and setups and strategies.
The enforcer will be the one who most likely get into fights. That's right I said it...
LET THEM FIGHT!!!
Players carry a weighted flag in their waistband, at any point, any player can throw it at an opposing player and call them out for a fight. Refs can break them up when they feel a player has won the bought. Of course, they would both go to the penalty box and the teams would continue playing. The clock being shown creates an excitement of anticipation as fans watch them getting ready to retake the field. This creates a climate almost like hockey where you can choose to fight but it could cost your team or give you an advantage in the current varying matchup's.
Equipment Required: Field, Custom goals, Custom built arena walls, penalty box and netting, Uniforms, clock, safety gear
NOTE from INVENTOR: I know it could be an amazing new game and I am looking for people who love sports and have skills that can help build the concept to public eye.
