Here are the top paid women athletes from around the world for 2014-15 according to the figures from Forbes Magazine. Russian tennis player Maria Sharapova leads this list again, as she has since 2005. She had a successful year on the court, winning her second French Open title.
Tennis players make up the first three positions, and 7 out of the top 10. Tennis is certainly the sport to play if you are female.
Sharapova's earnings of 29.7 million dollars between July 2014 and July 2015 is still well behind the highest paid male athlete for the same time period, boxer Floyd Mayweather, who had combined earnings of 300 million dollars (see highest paid athletes for 2015). Just two women, Sharapova and Williams, made the top 100 list of all athletes.
