Canada at the Commonwealth Games

Canada is one of only six nations have attended every Commonwealth Games (The others are Australia, England, New Zealand, Scotland and Wales).

Canada has hosted the Commonwealth Games four times, including the first-ever Games: Hamilton (1930), Vancouver (1954), Edmonton (1978), and Victoria (1994).
In the first Games in Hamilton the host nation Canada won 54 medals. Their biggest yield however came in 1994 with 128 medals although the 1986 Games produced their biggest tally of gold with 51.
In 1949 Newfoundland became a province of Canada and its athletes have since been eligible to compete in the Commonwealth Games for Canada.
In 2003 the city of Hamilton was edged out of the race to host the 2010 Games by the Indian city of Delhi.
