The UCI World Road Championships is an annual competition consisting of events for road race, individual time trial, and Team Time Trials (since 2012). The Championships is regulated by the Union Cycliste Internationale (UCI). It is held in a different city each year. It is part of the Triple Crown of Cycling, along with the Giro d'Italia and the Tour de France.
History and Hosts
A Cycling World championships were first held in 1921, a road race for amateur cyclists. The first professional world championship took place in 1927. The women's road race was introduced in 1958. A men's team time trial was introduced in 1962.
