Assessment Tests
This test is being adopted by numerous individual agencies around the state of Oregon. The test is set up inside a standard gym.
- It is an obstacle course consisting of:
- Two-hurdles approx. 2 1/2 feet to 3 feet high,
- A mat approx. 3 feet across (represents a ditch or hole you must jump over),
- A 10 or 12 foot balance beam, a high bar about 5 feet tall (represents a fence or wall),
- A portable flight of stairs with about 5 steps from top to bottom (it's like a small pyramid with steps on both sides)
- A push and pull machine (represents a fight).
In this course you must complete 6 laps of the gym going over every obstacle on every lap. When you get to the stairs you go up one side then down the other, turn around and go up and down again so you end up retracing the course. When you have completed the six laps you have to engage the push/pull machine (which is to complex to try to describe) 6 times pushing and 6 times pulling. Once you have completed that you must drag a 100 lbs dummy 50 feet. The course is timed but the dummy drag is not. There are a couple of minor details left out but they are kind of difficult to explain.
